Being the oldest daughter of a garden center owner, you start out working at the checkout or watering plants in the summer as a teenager. Next thing you know, you're working 14-hour days, traveling to seminars and garden shows every month, spending vacations checking out other garden centers, and becoming totally immersed in the business. A graduate from the University of Akron in Business Administration, Julie has combined her business skills with a true passion for gardening. She currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of our retail center. |
 |  General Manager
On any given day, Wayne can be seen in the greenhouse unloading trucks, at Customer Service helping customers, meeting with sales people, interviewing prospective employees, ordering plants – the list could go on and on! He's a hands-on manager who steps in to do whatever needs to get done. With his familiar smile, he may be one of the first to greet you at the door. A Horticulture graduate from Ohio State University, Wayne has been involved in the gardening industry for more than 30 years, 25 of those at Donzell's. A Horticulture graduate from Ohio State University, Wayne has been involved in the gardening industry for more than 33 years, 29 of those at Donzell's. He truly enjoys interacting with customers and is always striving to make Donzell's the best garden center in northeast Ohio. |
 |  Lawn & Garden and Warehouse Manager
A graduate of OSU in Horticulture, Brad has held certifications in both Ohio and Oregon over his more than 30 years in the garden industry. He really knows his plants, especially when it comes to diagnosing and prescribing treatment for plant disease or bugs, and his knowledge of shrubs and trees is just as extensive. With over 18 years of service at Donzell's, Brad has worn many hats. He currently oversees our warehouse and Lawn & Garden departments, buying merchandise and coordinating customer services. When he's not at the retail center, you'll find him on a nearby golf course enjoying some friendly competition. |
 |  Nursery and Landscape Manager
As Nursery Manager, Richard is responsible for all the plant buying that keeps our nursery stocked with trees, shrubs and perennials. He orders from growers each week with a careful eye for the health and quality of his plants – always looking for new or special plants our customers have requested. His 12 years at Donzell's, as well as his previous landscape experience, have proven to be invaluable in making our landscape division what it is today. As Landscape Manager, he oversees the design and installation of all of our landscape plantings. A recent University of Akron graduate with a BS degree in History, Richard has a fond interest in historical and native plants. |
 |  Greenhouse and Floral Design Manager
Working in a greenhouse has been Rose's passion for more than 25 years. She enjoys the beautiful plant surroundings as well as helping customers with their selections. Incredibly, she's able to keep our extensive greenhouses in tip-top shape even in the crazy spring months, when plant deliveries arrive every hour! Keeping a close watch on plant health, Rose is often seen in the greenhouse inspecting for insects, removing unhealthy plants, or watering anything that looks thirsty. Her precise attention to detail keeps the greenhouse filled with inspiring, colorful displays all year long. |
 |  Buying Manager
As if the demands of one garden center weren't enough, Tom is the
Buying
Manager for both Donzell's and our sister-store, Gale's Westlake Garden Center. With over 8 years as a buyer in the horticultural industry, Tom is enthusiastically keeping up with the garden center products and trends. A graduate of CSU, Tom is putting his Spanish degree to good use in his travels and in business, too. Beware that Tom is a big Halloween fan, so rest assured that he will keep an eye out for the spookiest decor! |
